From Disney to Iran, from China to the Soviet Union, Pinocchio has crossed countries, cultures, and ideologies, changing his appearance without losing his identity. “Pinocchio, the Child of the World” traces this journey through a rich collection of archival materials—most of which have never been seen before—including films, cartoons, picture books, theater productions, operas, musicals, and contemporary dance. Three archive producers followed the puppet’s trail around the world—from China to Spain, from Burkina Faso to France, and from the United States to Mexico—weaving his various incarnations into a single narrative.
