On Halloween night, Christian (Vincenzo Pirrotta), a fifty-year-old pastry chef afflicted with diabetes and loneliness, is busy preparing a wedding cake when Nina (Yeva Sai), a twenty-year-old Ukrainian girl in an obvious state of confusion, shows up at his door. The girl is the daughter of the “Chernobyl child” whom Christian had taken into his home many years earlier. In the middle of the night, while a violent storm causes a blackout, the two protagonists are forced to confront a secret that has been kept hidden for too long. This unexpected encounter will trigger a process of confrontation, reconciliation, and emotional liberation, capable of transforming their lives.
