Carlo Ristuccia is a university professor and author of a single successful book. His wife Elisa is a journalist for Vanity Fair Italia whose articles are reprinted overseas, but she is currently experiencing a creative crisis, and her editor (played by the real editor of Vanity) advises her to “take a break” and go on vacation to gain a new perspective. As a couple, Carlo and Elisa are at a standstill, trying to come to terms with the pain of not being able to become parents. They therefore decide to take a trip to Tangier, together with another couple: Paolo, Carlo’s best friend, a workaholic restaurateur and absent father, and his wife Anna, who is hyper-anxious and domineering. However, they are also accompanied by their 13-year-old daughter Vittoria, who has a particular fondness for Carlo. Unfortunately, Blu, the professor’s young lover, his student and waitress at the restaurant where the four friends usually dine together, makes a surprise appearance on vacation.
