On the morning of 2 April 1985, Barbara Rizzo Asta is driving her twin sons Giuseppe and Salvatore to school. The car journey between Pizzolungo and Trapani was interrupted by the explosion of a powerful bomb intended to kill Barbara’s husband, Judge Carlo Palermo, who survived along with his eldest daughter Margherita, aged 10, and was forced to live torn between grief and guilt.
