September 8, 2025

A 3-day green event for sustainability in film and alternative tourism in Kilkis, Pella and Serres!

With distinguished international participants and the collaboration of national film, educational, and environmental institutions, the Tourism Directorate and the Film Office of the Region of Central Macedonia have organized a three-day event focused on sustainability in cinema and alternative tourism in Kilkis, Pella and Serres, in northern Greece, under the title: “Filming in Nature, filming (in) Green: Exploring the green locations of Central Macedonia”

Thematic sessions will focus on timely topics such as:
Sustainable film production (green filming)

  • Filming in protected natural areas
  • Green cinematic narratives
  • Intersection of cinema and alternative tourism

Trentino Film Commission, has been invited to share its expertise, through examples and best practices, both regarding sustainable fliming with Green Film and shooting in protected natural areas (of which Trentino is particularly rich). Alberto Battocchi was the speaker of two different presentations on the 7th and on the 8th of September: “Filming in Protected Areas and Natural Parks: Best Practices and Case Studies from the Trentino Region in Italy” and “Certification for Sustainable Film Productions – Best Practices from Europe: The Green Film approach”.

The event aspires to contribute to the development of a common framework for sustainable audiovisual production in Central Macedonia, while establishing the region as a leading green filming destination in Europe.

We are proud to contribute and support these important initiatives with our experience, aware of the importance of building an ever-larger network with our fellow Film Commissions.
