GREEN SCAP:  Sustainable Production in Action Thessaloniki

March 12, 2026

It’s a wrap for the second in‑person session of Green SCAP: three days dedicated to training, practice and open dialogue.

From 9 to 11 March 2026, Thessaloniki hosted an intensive three‑day workshop on sustainable film production, bringing together emerging professionals and experts from across Europe. Led by Serena Alfieri (producer), Linnea Merzagora (Green Film Project Manager – Trentino Film Commission) and Julia Tordai (Sustainability Consultant and Founder & CEO of Green Eyes Production), the programme offered participants a hands‑on deep dive into real case studies, on‑set methodologies and practical tools for greener audiovisual workflows.

By combining theory, practical exercises and collaborative discussions, the workshop equipped attendees with concrete strategies to apply sustainability principles directly on set.

Among the Greek professionals involved that shared their expertise with the participants, Panagiotis Salapatas — Director of Photography, professor of Cinematography at the School of Film of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and member of the Greek Society of CinematographersDanae Spatara — Producer at Heretic (Triangle of Sadness, among others) and alumna of the Green Film Lab Athens 2024 and Giannis Sotiropoulos —  teaching staff at the Film School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Vice President of the Greek Location Managers Guild.

This second workshop was supported also by the 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, that on March 10 hosted the AGORA talk From vision to reality: Unleashing the sustainability superpower in film production. Moderated by Linnea Merzagora, the panel featured Julia Tordai and Serena Alfieri bringing together the Producer’s Point of View and the Sustainability Expert’s Point of View, offering a vibrant exchange on how creative, logistical and environmental priorities can coexist—and reinforce each other—throughout a film’s lifecycle.

It has been an intense workshop, marked by meaningful case studies and constructive discussions that truly gave participants the feeling of being on set. Once again, we witnessed how essential shared knowledge and international collaboration are in shaping the future of responsible filmmaking.
