The singer and actress Maria Roveran embarks on a journey to discover the anguane, the beautiful freshwater mermaids of Venetian folklore. A journey along the course of an imaginary river that winds its way from the peaks of the Dolomites to the waters of the Adriatic Sea, passing through alpine lakes, waterfalls, sanctuaries, caves and bends steeped in history.
Each anguana is the guardian of a watercourse, and each of these waters tells a little of the story of our land and our world, but above all of our relationship with nature – a relationship that is becoming increasingly distant and intrusive, amidst pollution, land consumption and the loss of our collective memory.
