Marta Sironi is a 35-year-old woman with a stubborn dream: to become a comedian. After yet another failure at a stand-up comedy competition, she finds herself fired and evicted. Her best friend Fabiana takes her in, but only for three days—and on the condition that she give up her dream of becoming a successful comedian. Marta, however, not only gets a second chance in the competition but also finds a place to stay, transforming herself into “Frau Klara,” a strict and highly qualified German nanny. Lorenzo Nuti, a handsome 45-year-old widower, needs an unyielding nanny to tame his two difficult children, Chiara and Luigi. The kids, however, soon discover the truth and blackmail her to gain more freedom at home.
Meanwhile, Marta decides to give the competition another shot, resuming work on her act and finding inspiration in her new life with the Nuti family—amid difficulties, lies, and moments of unexpected camaraderie. Over time, she grows fond of the children and forms an increasingly deep bond with Lorenzo, at the expense of her relationship with Federico, the owner of the stand-up club where Marta performs and with whom she maintains a completely casual relationship. Federico, however, consumed by jealousy, hatches a plan to expose her in front of Lorenzo, reveal her true identity, and jeopardize everything Marta has built. Wounded but more self-aware, Marta must choose whether to continue hiding or to face the truth, so she can finally be herself and defend her dream—without, however, losing the people she has come to love in the meantime.
