A house where you lived as a child and no longer live, a city you left behind, a balcony, the void, the voices from the street rising up with their obscene vitality—and then the rivalry between a grandfather and his young grandson. The grandfather, Daniele Mallarico, is in his seventies; he is a well-known illustrator who, now a widower, lives alone in Milan. The grandson’s name is Mario; he’s five years old, a little rascal who talks like a book, knows everything, can do anything, and explains everything. His parents are incredibly proud of him. It was his daughter Betta who asked Daniele to return to Naples, to the family home, to look after Mario for a few days while she and her husband, Saverio, were away at a conference—but she certainly couldn’t have imagined…
Within four walls and a balcony, a veritable duel unfolds, forcing Daniele to confront his demons.
